Apple Box Art a documentary, produced by
Malcolm Keithley, on the history
of apple box labels which identified and
promoted Washington State apples on
the ends of wooden fruit crates from the
early 1900's until the 1960's when they were
replaced by the cardboard cartons.
From the valley and orchards, the art on the
end of the apple boxes has left an enduring
history of the early dyas when Wenatchee
was the Apple Capital of the World.
Graphic illustrators, inspired by the scenic
beauty of the Pacific Northwest, painted
an idyllic, sometimes whimisical, picture
of a lush land filled with quaint villages,
flowing rivers, healthy children and
valleys brimming over with orchards of
perfect apples.
